2023 NFCC Ten Series Rd.1: P170/10

In near perfect conditions with just a cool spring breeze under the clear blue skies, 14 riders took to the line of the first NFCC Club time trial of the season – Round 1 of the NFCC Ten Series. P170 was the course of choice to kick off the season – the flat, fast, out and back course has a sting in the tail with a dip under the A31, straight into a heartbreaking climb to the finish line.

A good show from NFCC with 9 of the 14 riders first or second claim members of the home Club. The field consisted of 11 men (1 junior) and 3 women.

It was visitor Alex Fortune who took line honours on the night, covering the 16.2km course in only 22m 1s, with friend of the Club Bobby Buenfeld (VC Venta) in 22m 36s and visitor Viktor Kazinec in 22m 49s for third.

Home rider Sien van der Plank (NFCC) made it three from three in her time trials so far this season with another victory on the night, finishing in 26m 58s as the fastest woman. Second fastest in 27m 10s was visitor Gemma Simister, with NFCC stalwart Bev Hards finishing third with a time of 29m 34s.

Congratulations to those completing their first time trial too – we hope to see you back again next week!

As always, a HUGE thank you to those that give up their time to make these events happen – from registration, safety signage, timekeeping, marshalling, and more, we simply wouldn’t have a TT scene without these outstanding humans. Thank you – all of you.
