15 Mile TT round 1

The first of a series of three 15 mile TTs took place in relatively cool conditions with damp roads, though the rain held off for the event. A couple of punctures on the damp roads ruined some races, and seemingly nobody carries repair kits now!

Mike Akers took the win after pacing it slightly better than Phill Brown. Phill had a storming first lap, the only person under 19 minutes. It also means Phill has broken his run of third places, but still missed out on the win.

Mention should go to new member Chris Harris who had an equal second fastest first split. Chris punctured within sight of the finish on his first lap so would probably have had a slightly faster split. Fortunately he had a support crew to pick him up.

Everybody else maintained their position relative to the first split, though Phil Harris did just turn the tables on Phil Jones to beat him after the second lap.

The finish area was very busy with parents driving back and forth to get their dear little Scouts. Fortunately in spite of most of them speeding, there were two sensible occurences where an approaching rider was waited for, only Mike Anderson with a front light was clearly visible in the gloom.

Two more rounds of the three round series to go, best two events count.
