World Masters CX 2022

Catherine Pascoe rode the Cyclocross World Masters Championships in Ipswich on Friday 2nd December.

The lap was 2.8km and fairly flat, with a wooded section, two bridges, a long sand pit and a section of muddy punchy climbs, steps and descents. Catherine went up to Ipswich on Thursday for the afternoon lap practice session and found the course quite sticky and muddy in places, but by Friday morning it was drying nicely, despite occasional light spits of rain. Another practice lap on Friday morning boosted Catherine’s confidence. She got a good start on the long tarmac starting straight and was well placed going into the first corner. She was able to ride the sandpit on most of the laps, which was thrilling! She felt very strong and fought hard to finish 6th in the 60-64 age category and 3rd British woman. Gold went to a rider from Luxemburg, silver to a Belgian and bronze to a Norwegian.
