Wessex CX 23/24: Rd.3 – Foxhills

Round 3 of the South Downs Social Wessex CX league took place on Sunday at the Famous Foxhill Motocross Circuit in Wiltshire.

Three NFCC members made the journey to represent the Club. Steady light drizzle all morning (…proper cross weather!?) and all the well-attended youth races made for a slippery top layer on the ground changing certain sections of the course which were rideable in the warm-up to “running mandatory” during the grown-ups races!

Matt Knight and Jay Tarrant took to the line for the Vet 40 Open race, a front wheel slide out needing a couple of hefty “dabs” on the first lap caused Jay to lose a few places after a relatively good start so had to fight his way back through to finish 6th. An optimistic outlook regarding the weather led to Matt running a file tread for his rear tyre, which in turn led to him having an “exciting” day with a number of unintentional ground inspections, but managed to cross the line and finish in 50th place.

Catherine Pascoe was out next as the only woman representing NFCC at the event and put her years of CX skill to the test on the deteriorating course conditions to finish extremely well in 3rd place.

The next round is on 1st October @ Reading.
