NFCC RoadBike TT: P128/10 05 July 2022

It’s always a daunting course from an organisers perspective to see riders going out on P128/10 with a short section of the course on a major bypass road and dual carriageway, but all the riders got back to the finish safely and had a smile on their face, so must have enjoyed themselves to some extent… Twenty-three riders set out on the night, 14 Club Members and 9 guests or regular visitors made up of 1 tandem, 4 tt rigs and 18 road bikes. The weather was fine with little wind affecting the riders, although some did report being caught behind some emergency vehicles on the quickest section of the course.

Phill Brown put on a show of strength for NFCC, making the most of the fast course and his love for his road bike, crossing the line in just 22:20 – a whole minute ahead of anyone else. Setting off a minute ahead of Brown, but crossing the line together, Jeremy Hubbard (Sotonia) clocked in at 23:20 closely followed by fellow Sotonian Mike Marsh in 23:25. Robert Sweatman (24:17) and Ben George (24:23) both of NFCC rounding out the top 5 road bikes.

It was a NFCC 1,2,3, for the Women with Sien van der Plank leading the trio home in 25:33, Bev Hards second in 26:49, and Lucy Greechy third in 30:56.

Skye & Stuart Martingale of Sotonia had a excellent ride on their tandem, crossing the line in 26:13 with Jon Dudley also of Sotonia the fastest of the TT bikes, in 24:00.

The NFCC Road Bike TT Series league table remains unchanged from last week, with the top contenders all scoring well and holding tight their positions at the top.

As always with all Club TTs, we couldn’t do it without those that give up their time to volunteer on the evening and we’ve been really fortunate with so many people wanting to help so far this year – take a look at the marshal roster HERE and get in touch if you have a spare few hours on a Tuesday evening and would like to help out.
